About HEIC2JPEG
Simple, private tools for an everyday problem: iPhone photos that won't open.
Why this site exists
iPhones save photos as HEIC, and lots of software still doesn't accept them. Job portals, school systems, online shops, print services and older computers often reject HEIC uploads. Converting the photos shouldn't require installing an app or handing your personal pictures to an unknown server.
We built HEIC2JPEG to make that conversion quick, free and private, in every language our visitors speak.
How it works
Instead of uploading photos, this website sends a small image decoder to your browser. It is based on libheif, a widely used open-source HEIF library compiled to WebAssembly. Your browser then reads the HEIC file, decodes it, applies its rotation, resizes it if you asked, encodes the new file and checks that the result is valid before offering it for download. All of this happens on your device.
Our principles
- Privacy first. No uploads, no accounts, and GPS location is removed unless you choose to keep it.
- Honest output. We never just rename files. Every file is genuinely converted and verified.
- No dark patterns. No fake countdowns, sign-up walls or watermarks.
- Plain explanations. We say what the tools can't do, too. See the FAQ.
